Exactly one week after the problems of One UI 4.0 on the Galaxy S21 series with Google Play, which led to the suspension of the update, we now learn that the new release has reached the generation of flagships from 2020. Samsung Galaxy S20 and Note 20 have started receiving the update to One UI 4.0 and Android 12 and we have details below.
I'll start by telling you that Samsung used to start rolling out the new software in November to its 2021 flagships, and its shutdown was signaled in South Korea last week. There were some problems with incompatibility with Google Play. In the meantime, everything was resolved and returned to normal. Well, today at 20:00 the people from Sammobile confirmed the arrival of One UI 4.0 on the Galaxy S20 series, including the Galaxy S20 FE, but also on the Galaxy Note 20 and Note 20 Ultra.
A total of 6 appreciated phones from 2020 are part of this new release. If you are the owner of one of them, you just have to enter the Settings area, then Software Update and press Download and Install. Or you can search for the firmware in the Sammobile archives, in the version associated with our country.
We made a presentation and demo for One UI 4.0 on the Galaxy S21 Ultra here, a release that brings a new animation engine, widget picker and new widgets, new iconography in the Camera application, but also the possibility to extract colors from wallpaper and apply them to icons and menus. Dark Mode has an option that makes it more diffuse, and when an application accesses your microphone or camera, you have a green icon that indicates this on the screen.
We also have a voice recording widget on the lockscreen, a thicker brightness bar, virtual RAM and new Device Care functions for the battery. Video calls have extra options for backgrounds and microphone.
