A fundamental discipline that must always be respected, chemistry has always represented both a fascinating element of knowledge and a rather complex subject, sometimes even difficult for those who started in this way.Technology is constantly evolving, and educational resources begin to spread rapidly in the virtual environment, providing useful and detailed information.Chemistry is no exception to this phenomenon, and a team of young Romanian developers have come up with an idea to make this discipline an easier concept, starting from the most important aspect: understanding the periodic table, createdby Dmitri Mendeleev.
beginnings
The story of the Mendeleev project.Me starts in 2012 with a team of four creative young people, passionate about software and technologies: Alexandru Kertesz, Daniel Luca, Victor Calomfir and Cristian Stama.At that time, they were subcontracted for the development of applications for the museums "Petru Poni - Cernătescu" and "Mihail Kogalniceanu" in Iași.
Thus they came up with the idea that for the "Petru Poni - Cernătescu" Museum to develop an interactive application: the period of the elements.They made up the "skeleton" of the platform, introducing four chemical experiments: simple, effective, but known by all students familiar with this subject.The process of developing the application was not in a hurry but carefully cared for.The team has compiled information about all the chemical elements, about the different experiments but also about the life of Dmitri Ivanovich Mendeleev himself.In this way, young people have shown that the goals of the domestic education system can be filled with innovation and creativity, with the help of technology and ease with which more and more students are used by the tools made available by the virtual environment..
On the day of the inauguration of the Museum "Petru Poni-Cernătescu", the boys did not have a sumptuous ceremony, being offered only sincere thanks from the curators of the museum to make Mendeleev.me an app used successfully in schools.A few years later, one of the young people, Daniel Luca, was not beaten, continuing to experiment with what would be a respected educational application and used in over 104 countries..He, along with Agile Flex Agency, created his own mantra, namely "Mendeleev.Me - fun way to learn chemistry together ”.
A thoughtful but persevering course
From 2017 to 2020 Mendeleev.Me continued to grow and make their presence felt in the educational environment.The temporal axis carries us from the creation of the website, to the development of the application for iOS, and until the harmonious maturation of the project, being rewarded with prizes such as the platinum for the best design of a mobile application..Meanwhile, in 2020, both the mobile application and the website were available in 10 languages: Romanian, English, Russian, German, French, Italian, Spanish, Turkish, Chinese and Japanese.
