Recently Google has organized the annual summit dedicated to game developers (Games Developer Summit).During this event, the company revealed new solutions and tools to develop easier games on Android and Chrome OS.A new function dedicated to mobile gamers was also revealed. This is called "Play As You Download" and will be available on Android 12 devices. Thus, the option will allow us to play games before they are completely downloaded.Below we have details.
"Play as you download" is a new service offered through Google Play that allows users to run games in seconds after pressing the download button.Google knows that gamers want to play the titles as soon as possible, so the new function has been born. Also, the concept is not new, already existing in the case of consoles such as PlayStation and Xbox. However, so far it has not been necessary for Android to resort to such a solution as the titles were quite small in size.
Starting August 1, 2021, the AAB format becomes a condition that developers must respect their applications in Google Play.As a reminder, Google has also tested a similar function in the past that allows users to try an application without downloading it.However, this happened in the "demo" variant for several minutes, and then the users had the option to download the application, losing the progress made in the minutes.
The "Play As You Download" function should be available for everyone once Android 12 is officially revealed, in a stable version.
