Android 12 has not yet officially arrived on compatible terminals and there is already talk of Android 12.1. It's just been leaked and dissected by XDA Developers, which uncovers interesting clues about the first foldable Pixel phone.
Android 12.1 should be an incremental update, but it's one designed especially for foldable terminals, hinting that the Pixel Fold could arrive by the end of 2021. XDA discovered a dockable taskbar in Android beta builds 12, but also a tutorial with code sequences indicating how that taskbar would behave. The dock will remain open on the homescreen by default, but also when a split screen action starts.
It will automatically hide when you open an application in full screen. The idea of a dock bar on a foldable is not new and it also appeared on the Galaxy Z Fold 3, which is well hidden in the settings and is basically an Edge bar docked on the side of the screen. Returning to the dock in Android 12, if you drag and drop an application from the taskbar you can open it on the half of the screen chosen from the two available.
The code also mentions optimized animations for when you fold and unfold the screen, providing images with the new acek taskbar. Android 12.1 will activate all these functions, and two separate instances of Google Chrome appear in the images leaked on the web. The Pixel Fold could arrive in October this year along with the Pixel 6 models. It's known by the code name "Passport" and hasn't really had any leaks so far.
