Samsung has an entire product ecosystem, from smartwatches and wireless headphones like Watch 3 and Buds Pro, to smartphones and tablets (A or S series on mobile phones, Tabs on niche tablets) and up to smart TVs, monitors, etc. (newer generations focus on connecting to your smartphone and tablet, but some Samsung monitors also have special features such as the Smart Monitor series I wrote about here).
We noted five software features that Samsung has integrated into a suite of smartphones and tablets, features that contribute to a significant increase in productivity.
1. Samsung DeX;
I don't think he needs any more introductions. Some time ago you needed a dock, now you can use it wirelessly on a compatible smart TV (from the 2018 generation to newer models), and for the connection with a monitor etc you only need a USB Type cable -C at both ends. You can also connect a keyboard + mouse with bluetooth, and the user experience is similar to that of a desktop PC. On some Samsung products, you can enable DeX directly on that device (Tab S4 and S6 had it built-in).
You can use Samsung DeX on the Galaxy S9, S10, S20, Note8, Note9, Note10, Note20, Tab s4, S5e, S6 and Galaxy Tab S7 series.
DeX emulates an interface that somehow reminds you of what you get in Windows, you can quickly access files and other applications, it is optimized for working with keyboard and mouse, etc.
2. Samsung Knox;
Samsung Knox is a security solution integrated in Samsung devices and there are a number of solutions based on this platform. We are talking about a hardware & software solution, integrated from the factory. Protects against intrusion, malware and other cyber threats.
You can find it on both smartphones and tablets and smartwatches. Knox has business applicability (Knox Configure, Knox Manage, Knox Enterprise), but there are also applications for the average user and here I would refer for example to Secure Folder (you can store photos, videos, files, applications etc. in a private environment with dedicated security - password, fingerprint, etc., you can't find another better solution in the market, at least in the Android universe).
3. Link to Windows;
I use Link to Windows on Samsung Galaxy Note20 Ultra and it helps me because this way I can take calls, answer messages, access photos from my smartphone, etc. without using my smartphone, directly from the Windows interface. You have everything in one place.
Link to Windows works with the Note9, Galaxy S9, Note10, Note20, Galaxy S10, S20, S21, Fold, Z Flip and XCover Pro mid-range series, including the Galaxy A72, A52, A52 5G,
It's one of the best integrations between an Android or Windows smartphone or device, at least from what I've tested so far. Microsoft and Samsung have worked closely together to deliver the best possible integration.
4. Focus Mode;
I don't know how it is with you, but it often happens to me to start an activity and get somewhere else. You can activate Focus Mode from Quick Settings / Work Time Settings. There you set a time period and the applications you want to leave active, the ones you don't want active will be illustrated in gray.
This way you will be able to organize yourself better, without receiving annoying notifications, with certain applications that you want to function in full mode. It seems to me a move inspired by Samsung because compared to DND you can choose the operation of some services, which you need at that moment.
Focus Mode has been brought by Samsung on its Android devices since 2019 with One UI 2.0 (I found it on A72, Tab S7, Galaxy Note20 Ultra).
5. Outlook and OneDrive;
The partnership between Samsung and Microsoft also includes a better integration of extensively used solutions in the corporate environment and here I am referring especially to Outlook (used in over 100 million devices). Outlook brings your emails, calendar, contacts and files in one place. Outlook is integrated and optimized for Galaxy devices (for example, the S Pen from Tab S7 is recognized and you have a short preview when scrolling over emails, calendar events, contacts, etc.).
Samsung Gallery has the option to integrate with Microsoft OneDrive and bring your files and videos to the cloud securely.
