The French from Dx0Mark have just tested the new Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra (the version with Exynos CPU), and the results are not exactly good. The total score is 121 points, while the Galaxy S20 Ultra, last year's flagship of the South Koreans, scored 126 points. It should be noted that the S20 Ultra also went through the new version of the testing process, so the scores are comparable.
Before I show you the scores, here are the Galaxy S21 Ultra's camera specifications:
In the zoom test, the ultra-wide camera did well. However, the two telephoto sensors seem to have lowered the scores, failing to live up to the expectations of Dx0Mark. Galaxy S21 Ultra is above Galaxy Note 20 Ultra with only one point, the latter getting 120 points (overall score). Also, the South Koreans' 2021 camera phone is below the iPhone 12, iPhone 12 Mini, Huawei Mate 30 Pro 5G and even below the iPhone 11 Pro Max.
Experts from Dx0Mark say that the phone did well in terms of zoom when it comes to exposure and the transition between cameras. Also, white balance is stable, and autofocus is accurate when shooting. Unfortunately, there is noise, both in the case of photos and in the case of videos, in various conditions.
Zoom images sometimes show artificial textures and visual artifacts. At the same time, photography in low light and high contrast is quite slow. A "jelly effect" is also observed during filming, and image stabilization is questionable, even if the phone is not moving.
It is believed to be a software issue, and Samsung should fix it as soon as possible. Theoretically, the phone should not be weaker than the Galaxy S20 Ultra as it comes with better hardware. It was concluded that the big minus is represented by the filming part, but not by the photography part. If you want to watch the full Dx0Mark material, you can find it right here.
