OS, UI & Apps Oppo Reno5 Lite

Customization is at its maximum

Oppo Reno5 Lite runs Android 11 with fresh ColorOS 11.1 applied over. This is a minimalist interface, mostly stock, but with many customization options from Oppo . We don't have bloatware here, and the fingerprint reader is integrated into the screen. We don't see this very often on 1500 lei midrange smartphones. It's quite fast and accurate, although we also have the ability to unlock the phone with your face.

In the settings we find customizable Always On Display options. We can create a new icon design, change the text and shape of the interface elements. We also have Dark Mode on stations and it is customizable, with 3 options: Enhanced, Medium and Gentle . Interestingly, the options will also apply to third party applications.

Multitasking is done from the Recents area which is in the form of a carousel for open applications in the background. We also have split screen, but also floating windows over the homescreen. They can be accessed from the Smart Sidebar. It is a small, vertical menu, found on the side and includes shortcuts for useful applications, which become floating windows on the screen.

For gamers we check dedicated functions. Gaming Shortcut Mode helps us access installed games from Game Space. Game Assistant allocates more resources to games, we can also block accidental touches, but also notifications from here. We also have 3 main modes for gaming: Low Power Mode, Balanced Mode and Competition Mode . I repeat, it is not the phone on which you will play PUBG or Call of Duty Mobile on maximum details, but the extra options are welcome.

In the homescreen we also have an app drawer, we can capture video from the notification area and we also have Assistive Ball. Navigation buttons can be replaced with menu gestures. It's a fairly simple experience to use and I appreciate the fact that we don't have bloatware here. We also have the ability to change the animation in case of fingerprint unlock.

Conclusions Oppo Reno5 Lite

I felt that the Oppo Reno5 Lite is a phone for young people and for those who love to surf social networks. The selfie camera does an excellent job, being an ideal terminal when it comes to Instagram stories or check-ins in the mountains or at sea this summer on Facebook. If you don't have too many pretensions, take good photos during the day, especially with the AI functionalities integrated here.

In a way it is also a battery phone, considering that it lasts for 1-2 days without problems and charges very quickly. For its price though, I would have preferred it to have a refresh rate of at least 90Hz. Gamers shouldn't be pretentious though
