Basically, the RAM+ feature allows the user to expand the phone's RAM memory by accessing and temporarily converting the device's storage memory (ROM) into processing memory.
With the help of the new function, OPPO users can run more complex games or several applications in parallel.
RAM+ allows users to manually expand the RAM memory with three levels of additional memory – 5, 3 or 2 GB, depending on needs. While the maximum level of memory reallocation, that of 5GB, offers the highest standard of performance and the fastest and smoothest running of applications, the expansion level of 2 GB, offers extra speed and performance by blocking for temporary conversion a smaller part of the storage memory.
Through this capability, the Reno5 phones, the series with the largest real processing memory in its price segment, 8GB, can thus reach 10, 11 or even 13 GB of running memory. With a storage capacity of 128GB, the Reno5 series smartphones still provide the user with sufficient storage space.
The RAM+ feature can be turned on by the user from the phone's Settings menu by going to the "About phone" section. Access the "RAM" section and then "RAM Expansion" where you must select the size you want to expand the memory from among the available options: 2, 3 or 5GB, and then restart the device. For the RAM+ function to be active, the phone must be running the latest available software version.
For the future, the technology manufacturer aims to expand the availability of the RAM+ function both for the next Reno series and for future models in the mid-range segment.
