We learn on July 13, 2021 that HMD Global is preparing to unveil a rugged phone on July 27. Promoted as "the phone for which we will no longer need a case", this device will be a midrange phone with an extra strong case. Today a teaser photo appears, but an official name.
Nokia XR20 will be the name of this terminal, possibly derived from Nokia X20. We see a dark blue phone covered in water droplets, hinting at an IP68 certification. We also expect MIL-STD 810G military certification, resistance to escape from height, but also to salt, humidity and temperature changes. In the lower area we see the audio jack, which seems to be a hole for a lanyard, but also a speaker and USB-C port.
On the back is a camera with a square module (not circular like the Nokia X20, which is unique), and on the side a large and jagged Power button. The XR20 would come with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 480 5G processor, the same one found on the Nokia XR20. It would also have a 6.67-inch HD+ screen, a 5000 mAh battery and a dual camera with 48 MP + 13 MP sensors. We may learn more about the terminal in the coming weeks, when more teasers will appear.
It sounds like a phone that competes with the Motorola Moto Defy 2021, only adding 5G connectivity.
