You have probably heard on the news or received a warning on WhatsApp about a new malware circulating in Romania. The phenomenon has spread and we are now receiving warnings from CERT-RO and SRI about this SMS fraud, which leads to the installation of a FluBot malware.
This dangerous malware is able to access passwords and bank cards stored on your phone. On May 28, CERT-RO and SRI sent a warning about SMS fraud affecting Android phone users. Messages appear to come from a courier company and invite users to access a link to check the status of the order. If the link is accessed, a malware application will be downloaded to your phone. It extracts data related to cards, personal messages, calls, screenshots and retrieves passwords .
Orange has already alerted its customers to the problem. The attack is posed by a well-known courier company, with the message "Your package is on its way, follow it here" and as many of us were waiting for packages, the temptation is great to click on that link. The malware also has a keylogger and asks you for permission to manage SMS and calls, access data from your device, and may even take full control of it.
Here are some tips to help you avoid problems:
SMS fraud has reached both Orange and Vodafone, Telekom and Digi customers.
