It seems that the list of products that Huawei is preparing for its debut on December 23 has just been enriched with a device. So far we have had a teaser for the Huawei P50 Pocket, a foldable clamshell phone, but also leaks for the Huawei Watch D, a watch with blood pressure monitoring, and now there are also smart glasses, in a fairly detailed teaser.
I've been writing about smart glasses with AR or VR lately, in the context of leaks related to Apple and its plans for 2022 and 2023. And OPPO presented a prototype of this type recently at INNO Day 2021, with the intention of launching the final product in 2022. Now Huawei Smart Glasses are ready for prime time and will have speakers that conduct the sound through the bone and are integrated in the temple area.
The device runs a modified version of HarmonyOS, focused on voice control and integration with other HarmonyOS compatible gadgets. Both lenses can be changed simultaneously as a single unit, the front panel being attached to the frame with magnets. This way you can immediately switch from eyeglasses to sunglasses if necessary. Huawei is not at the first rodeo in this area, having already launched two generations of smart glasses, in collaboration with Gentle Monster.
In that case it was about a device that allowed you to listen to music, and later Huawei VR Glass 6DoF arrived, a VR headset that connects to the company's phones. What is clear is that the new model no longer brings a collaboration with Gentle Monster and it is still not clear what other smart functions it has and if any are also applied visually, not just auditorily.
