Yesterday we had an important event on the smartphone market, the one associated with the launch of the Honor 50 series of phones that marks a new beginning for the previous brand owned by Huawei. As you well know, both Huawei and Honor phones ran out of Google services when the Chinese company was blacklisted in the US, with many bans coming.
After more than a year of not having Honor models with GMS on board, now the Google suite is back on Honor phones! The information was confirmed by an Honor spokesperson who stated that the global variants of Honor smartphones and tablets will run Google Mobile Service from now on.
This is because Honor is no longer owned by Huawei , being a separate company that Huawei sold at the end of last year to a Chinese consortium. Honor is not blacklisted and has no bans, having a free hand in collaborating with American companies such as Qualcomm. We learn that Honor is now undergoing a Google Play Protect and compatibility check process to ensure that GMS applications are ready to run on Honor phones.
The first new phones to bring the GMS and Google Play suite are the Honor 50, Honor 50 Pro and Honor 50 SE models, and the brand says that the compatible devices will also receive GMS. However, it is not clear whether the devices already available on the market will receive GMS or not.
We are waiting for a clarification in this regard and details about the debut of the Honor 50 series globally.
