Orange: How Expensive, Paradoxical is the Romanian 5G Revolution

Time 08/03/2023 By myhoneybakedfeedback

Orange is the telecommunications operator that has the most extensive 5G network in Romania at the moment, and we are talking about a certification received by the company for the investments made in 2020. Those from Orange have invested a lot of money in their 5G network , have the most locations where we can use it, and those who want to be part of the 5G revolution can now also order a 5G modem that will facilitate their access to the network from their own home.

Orange has announced that through this page it is now selling a 5G modem from Huawei that allows people to enjoy 5G connectivity in their own home at speeds of up to 1.2 Gbps, as allowed by its network. It is paradoxical that Huawei could be banned from supplying equipment for 5G networks in Romania, but those from Orange offer the possibility to order 5G modems for people to use at home "safely" after the equipment in the network they will be from other manufacturers.

Orange: How Expensive, Paradoxical is the Romanian 5G Revolution

Orange has created an interesting paradox here, but that is not the only surprise because the 5G revolution in Romania comes not only with equipment from one manufacturer which could be banned, but also with high prices. The modem that Huawei sells through Orange for those who want 5G "safe" in their own homes has a standard selling price of 2000 LEI, yes you read that right, a colossal amount for a 5G router, but the operator has it at the offer at the price of only 400 LEI.

Orange: How Expensive, the Paradox is The Romanian 5G Revolution

Orange has a special subscription that it offers together with this modem, Net5G 15 being its name, and at 15 euros per month, it offers unlimited internet that is more expensive and more unstable than the one via fiber optic. Even so, the first 5G modems have colossal prices, especially since they come from a manufacturer like Hauwei, known for cheap, even if unreliable, products, but at least Orange subsidizes three quarters of the price for customers.

Orange should also have 5G modems from other equipment manufacturers of this kind, but if Huawei sells them so expensively, then others could sell them even more expensively.
