There are two ways anyone can spy on your phone, according to the American hacker.
The first is physical access to the phone. If someone has access to your iPhone, for example, and knows your password, then it's very simple. There is software that can be bought on the internet for a few hundred dollars that can hack your phone. One of the sites is Flexspy.com and you can turn on someone's camera, you can read their text messages, even deleted ones, you can intercept their phone calls, says the American expert.
So if these people make a phone call, there is a way you can slip into the conversation so that you can listen to the dialogue. And you can see the location. It's like installing a GPS tracker on your phone. This means that a malicious person has access to the phone, whether it is someone jealous or someone interested in knowing everything, he adds.
How the secret services operate
The second way is remote and this is usually used by the FBI, CIA, states, secret services. Such a way exploits vulnerabilities in phone programs. And this in the case of iOS it costs around $ 1.5 million, but it is much cheaper in the case of Android phones on them, which are easier to intercept, so it costs around $ 200,000. For a state, these amounts are insignificant. So if the states want to intercept your phones, they can do it without you realizing it, claims the American hacker.
How to protect yourself
There is bad news and good news. The bad news: There's no way to tell if you have malware on your phone.
But there are also solutions: one of the things you can do to protect yourself is to make sure you always have the latest version of iOS installed. Use a strong password on your phone and don't tell anyone. And if you ever feel like your phone is infected, all you can do is reload your installation software. And that brings your iPhone back to factory settings, and any installed spyware will disappear.
