The US authorities are considering the adoption of a law targeting competition in app stores.
The proposal has already materialized in the form of a bill in the United States Senate, being introduced this week by a group of Republican and Democratic senators.
Experts say the new regulations will have a significant impact on the Apple App Store and the Google Play Store if they take effect.
Apple and Google are accused of monopoly
The new law could balance the conditions of competition for third-party application stores and in-app payment services.
"By introducing the Open Markets Act in both chambers of Congress, we are one step closer to reducing Apple's anti-competitive behavior, leveling the playing field and restoring competition for all."
The bill would also allow developers to inform consumers about possible lower prices available elsewhere.
In addition to the new regulations that could affect the activity and, especially, the profitability of Apple, the company also faces other problems. Recently, it announced a new system designed to protect minors from possible abuse in the virtual space.
The new system is based on photo scanning technology, which has been widely criticized by the company as a form of espionage rather than a security measure.
Apple said the program was "still under development." The practice of scanning user accounts for such images is an old practice for the technology industry. But lawyers 'concern is that governments may ask the technology company to search its users' devices for other private, political, religious or personal information once the core functions are in place.
