The announcement of his death was made on Facebook, by a close friend: "after 91 years and a fabulous life, my friend Lou Cutell has gone home."
"He took me to Lucille Ball's house in 1986. Rest in peace, Lou," wrote Mark Furman, alongside photos of the deceased, writes the Independent.
A cause of the actor's death has not yet been announced.
Lou Cutell made his film debut in 1961 when he played the role of William Berry in the Broadway production of Young Abe Lincoln.
He was born in New York City on October 6, 1930 and later moved to Los Angeles, where he graduated from the University of California.
His first television season came in 1964, when he appeared on an episode of "The Dick Van Dyke Show." From there, he went on to play various roles in a number of classic television series, including 'The Wild Wild West' (1968), 'The Mary Tyler Moore Show' (1974), 'Starsky & Hutch" (1976), "The Bob Newhart Show" (1974 and 1978) and "Kojak" (1978), as well as a recurring role on "Alice" (1983-1984).
His last appearance in a series was in 2015, in an episode of "Grey's Anatomy".
